My beginning in music began like a lot of people my age. In my third year of high school I had to pick 2 instruments to specialise in for the coming two years, I decided to choose drums and singing, not because I was good at them but because I thought they would be easiest. Turns out that wasn't really the case. My first year playing the drums was an up hill struggle and it did not come naturally to me but it wasn't easy when there were 6 people sharing one kit for a 2 hour lesson. Though I wasn't very good I still enjoyed it, so much so I somehow managed to convince my parents to get me my first kit over the summer. This was when things began to pick up. When I went back to school after the summer people could tell I had been practicing and from that point forward I got a reputation for being quite good on the kit. Despite improving though, I still managed to fail my drum exam at the end of the second year which could mostly be attributed to nerves and lack of support from the teachers who would prefer if everyone played the piano.

From there I joined a few bands over the years and basically taught myself after the bitter taste left from school lessons. I ended up playing in a couple of bands in Edinburgh supporting a couple of well known bands at the time and playing in some pretty cool venues like Jools Holland's The Band House and the Cabaret Voltaire.

In 2008 my guitarist and housemate at the time had decided to move to England to study, I decided to join him and we both moved down to Bristol to study at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music (BIMM). This turned ot to be an amazing year surrounded by so many talented and amazing musicians and being taught by some of the best drummers around; James Hester, Mark Whitlam and Jason Bowld to name a few. After BIMM I then joined a rock cover band called Dogs 'R' Talkin' where we would play popular covers from the 60's to modern day in a somewhat heavier fashion. We played all around the South West and even recorded an album of covers which you can hear below. At the time of recording the band was made up of Dave McCormak (Vocals), Tim Hill (Bass), Chris Fraser (Guitar), Jimi Arkham (Guitar), and myself (Drums).

Currently I'm not playing as much as I would like as I am focusing on the Web Development but I would like to eventually get back into playing music again.

Dogs R Talkin' | Ace of Spades (Cover)

This is a music video we created while recording our cover album at Stage 2 Studios in Bath of Ace of Spades by Moterhead. It's a bit slapdash but fun all the same.
